Documents Required for Tourist Schengen Visa (India)
1. Visa Application Form
Fully filled and signed.
Country-specific forms (e.g., Germany, France) must be used.
2. Valid Passport
Valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended departure from Schengen.
Must have minimum 2 blank pages.
Issued within the last 10 years.
Submit old passports as well (if any).
3. Photographs
Two recent passport-size photos.
35mm x 45mm.
White background, matte finish.
4. Cover Letter
Explaining:
Purpose of visit
Travel dates
Itinerary
Who is traveling (if with family/siblings)
Employment status
Addressed to the consulate (e.g., German Consulate, New Delhi).
5. Travel Itinerary
Day-wise plan for all cities you will visit.
Include entry/exit dates from Schengen.
6. Proof of Accommodation
Hotel bookings for the entire stay.
OR invitation letter if staying with a host.
7. Flight Reservation
Return flight booking (not mandatory to be a paid ticket).
Must show entry + exit from Schengen.
8. Travel Insurance
Minimum €30,000 coverage.
Valid across the entire Schengen area.
Must cover medical emergency + repatriation.
9. Proof of Financial Means
Any of the following:
For Employed Applicants
Last 3–6 months’ salary slips
Last 6 months’ bank statements (with bank seal)
Employer NOC (Leave approval letter)
For Self-Employed
Business registration (GST/Udyam/MSME)
Last 6 months’ company bank statements
ITR for the last 2 years
General Financial Proof
Personal bank statements (6 months)
Fixed Deposits (optional)
Mutual fund statements (optional)
10. Income Tax Returns
Last 2 years’ ITR (if available).
11. Employment Documents

12. VFS Appointment Confirmation
Printed confirmation of your appointment.
